Great App, latest update makes the app just look a lot better.
Great App, latest update makes the app just look a lot better.
Please fix
Does not WORK!!! Keep getting a split screen.
This app is awesome, the only people that leave negative reviews are the same people that don’t know how to turn on a computer and have to have their grandchildren fix their technical issues. Don’t be fooled by the people giving negative reviews, this app is great, been using it for years.
When I point my phone at the sky it is not aligned with the stars or planets making it useless. I would contact support but they don't provide a way to do this.,
The “news“ in the app is no longer updating and the website cannot be found. After 13 years it appears that this app has gone to the boneyard. It was a good run.
Doesn’t know west from north
an app i can customize how i want to use it any night. wether i’m preparing for astrophotography away from my computer, or just can’t remember where an object is while i have my telescope out. it can be simple, or can show some more advanced options if needed. i’ve been using it for so many years now, and i feel like i just need to say it’s the astronomy app you get and can use for a long time. and big thanks to the developer keeping things actively up to date :)
I am a long time amateur astronomer and I love this app. First off I paid to unlock it years ago, and unlike many apps it has continued to be updated and supported when many apps sunset this one has kept going. Thank you to the creator/developer and pleas keep up the good work!
So, there is a green comet that’s around and if you do a search for “comet“ you get nothing there is no help from this app to find the comet and it’s a brief time over our skies this month.
now it can't even adjust to the correct compass setting...sheesh.
I want to love this app. I really do. But if you can’t enlarge the text size when you zoom in, it is utterly USELESS. Especially to vision that is looking at a screen that is dimmed out at night. Seriously? What an utter, utter shame.
This was the first app I bought when I got my smart phone years ago. I don’t know why I waited so long to write a review. This app is so easy to use, easy to understand and still amazes me with all the things it does.
I love space and this app is worth all the money you pay for it.
Same problem it’s had since the first version: you try to expand because the text size is so small that you need a magnifying glass to read it - literally - and it expands the dot representing the planet, star, constellation, etc.,everything but the text. If you can’t read the label to know what you’re looking at it’s unusable, especially since iPhone font size is disabled. Shame. It could be so good.
Don’t work at all. Using iPad Pro running latest iOS. This app has never ran on this iPad. Did on my old iPad running 5.1.1. I was hoping this last patch would make it work. Start the app and I get blank screen. Still sad…
Won’t search. Freezes.
It seems to be nonfunctional now. Used to be awesome.
Contacted dev, fix is waiting on Apple approval. Bumped it back to 4 stars for now. Checked current version (6.13.7) and still broken on iPhone 12 AND Xs Compass is waaay off but apple compass is just fine. Even manual alignment doesn’t work. I point north and hit okay and it immediately switches to point west.
Very informative , interactive and easy to understand . Easy to find celestial bodies. Even a child can learn astronomy as a fun game. Best app for all ages. Thanks Ramadass Satya
Aside from NEOWISE not being listed under Comets but under Objects, irs location varies a great deal from where other sites put it. This app seems to place it lower and more to the north than other sites. And I’ve checked my location and time settings.
Good app. Been using it for a long time. Developer response to a negative review I left was helpful.
Does not show location of comet, it was better before.
You need to update this app to stay current. Neowise does not show up.
Fascinating and fun
I’m sorry I made that review.the game is actually very handy for tracking stars and planets and the games are fun too. You must have worked very hard to make this game and put a lot of effort into making it. In all it’s a great game.
This must-have app is unbelievably easy and I can get a summary of what’s up, what’s coming, what’s interesting, immediately after opening it. This developer has been perfecting this app over the years, and it really shows.
Can’t tap on the user interface, it’s non responsive. Limits the usability.
A very functional and easy to use app. Enjoy using this.
The coolest feature, being the motion detection, doesn't work at all, making the app nothing but an astronomy trivia archive.
This app is really amazing and lots of fun to use. There are many deep features to explore and enjoy. The 'Motion' feature works really well when several versions ago it was hit and miss with figuring out which was was North. Today the app was updated with a cool solar eclipse tracker. It seems to be off by just a few miles south around the St Louis area (less than 10 maybe) but for a simulation it will allow me to show friends what they can expect. Great app. Keep it up!!
I have had this app for a few years now. It has inspired me to become more involved in amateur astronomy. Thanks for maintaining such a great app.
I don't even know if I had to pay for it. I didn't use it much at first. It was different back then. But I still loved. Honestly it's the only app I have used. All these years later are great changes and I am using it often now. I don't recall it ever even being off at all. Seems very accurate.
A fantastic app, it never disappoints. The developer continues to improve it over time. I like the overview for the month feature and am looking forward to using it for the next meteor shower. If you don't have it on your phone you're missing out.
What else do you need? And recently rewritten code to make use of latest iOS features and speed enhancements. My go to sky watching assistant! ^.^
I really like this app. It even has a moon phase calendar. Look on!
I first got this app years ago for my little phone. Loved it. Then I got an iPad Mini and loved it even more. Then I got a regular iPad and that's where this app went south. UNUSABLE. To be able to use this app in Airplane Mode, I'd have to move either to Belfast, or Seattle. As if. Picking my city from the list doesn't work. All it does is change from Belfast to Seattle, no matter what city I pick. I normally have Location Services disabled. When I bowed to pressure and let it find me (a one time only concession), it only worked for that one session. Then I was back to Belfast. I will NOT have Location Services on again. I will not use an app like this except in Airplane Mode, and I will delete it rather than allow the developers to manipulate me.
Tried a few Apps but I always come back to this one. I hope the developer keeps on updating this fine software.
I've just been sitting on my porch, getting acquainted with the night sky. Easy to identify various constellations and individual stars, and if you put a star in the crosshairs, pocket universe connects to a small onboard database, or the appropiate Wikipedia entry. This is a robust, well-engineered application, very helpful for amateur astronomers or physicists like me. It is packed with features, all well-implemented and seamless, at a bargain price.
I used to walk out the door, point my phone or iPad in a direction and delight in what this app told me. Every star planet and constellation was named. We had such a great time identifying everything. Now I have no idea what I am looking at with this "upgrade." I just hate it.
This app is terrific, loaded with genuinely useful features. Updates are regular, represent excellent improvements, and are accompanied by delightful explanations. Wonderfully useful, easy to parse, works admirably well.
This is the best star tracker I've used!
And now better.
Continues to add features, years after we purchased this app. It also works in the daytime. In the northwest, the path of the sun varies dramatically over the course of a year. We predicted the path of the sun and assisted my son-in-law with where to plant a tree for maximal shade for the hottest room of the house
Totally wrong. I can point at the moon & app says it's a good 20-30 degrees off. Bummer...my boys wanted to pick the planets out.
Works beautifully and has a fun side to it. The moon map is an awesome plus!
I think it would be very relevant to integrate a stereoscopic view for VR goggles. I know I personally would use that all the time.
I have been using universe since John first introduced it and i love this app. Ease of use and beginner friendly with lots of awesome features. I recommend this to all interested in the night sky. Friendswood, Texas
Spent a couple days in Kauai, HI and it already paid itself off. Great way to learn what's up there!
Interesting. Great interface. Totally worth it, with great updates. By the way, you're a galaxy, riddle included in the description of the most recent update
Galaxy.
It has helped my kids learn to love astronomy. I use it almost every night. GALAXY
